Health Care—Soaring Costs Force Canada to Reassess Health Model – CNBC

This is not a partisan issue, it’s a mathematical issue. Private plans can offer choice, so that people can buy as much or as little as the like. However, universal healthcare is by it’s nature impossible to achieve, and many countries are proving that.
Here’s why…
Universal Healthcare, attempts to distribute services uniformly, regardless of means, or needs. The problem is that needs are not uniform. Needs for food, or even shelter, are relatively uniform, but needs for medical services are not. Socialized systems work on what is called “fairness”. They often object to “rich people” getting better healthcare because they have more money. Then the “poor people” say that’s not fair.
With healthcare if someone has a heart attack, he gets more medical care, which violates “fairness”.
