It looks like the senate went on vacation without keeping Medicare rates at their current level. The healthcare reform bill was passed based on $500 Billion in Medicare cuts. Part of that was the 41% decrease in Medicare reimbursement rates which was already legislated. Now legislators have a tough choice to make….1) Allow the planned, budgeted, and legislated cuts to occur, so that healthcare reform will only cost about a trillion. or 2) Extend current Medicare reimbursement rates, which means healthcare reform may cost $1.5 trillion. Hey, what’s half a trillion dollars these days anyway?
