Vascular Testing (Vascular Medicine)

Body Area: Arms / Hands
Body Parts: Fingers
Symptoms: Swelling
Description:
Vascular testing can be done in one of several methods, including use of a Doppler test (a probe shooting sound waves into the artery), Photoplethysmograph (a probe used on the tips of the toes), Angiography (an x-ray taken after a dye is injected into the blood vessel), or comparing pressure in limbs or toes. The type of test used depends on the condition being tested for. Vascular testing is usually suggested for patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or come from a family with a history of circulatory problems.
