TURP (transurethral prostatectomy) (Nephrology and Urology)

Body Area: Male Specific
Body Parts: Genitals
Symptoms: Difficulty Urinating
Description:
Transurethral resection of the prostate or TURP, is the most common type of prostatectomy procedure that is used to treat moderate to severe enlargement of the prostate gland in 90% of all BPH surgeries. During a TURP, the physician trims away excess prostate tissue, relieving pressure on the urethra. TURP is a less invasive and more recovery efficient method of excising the prostate.
