The TRH test is used to test thyroid function. First a TSH test is done, the TSH test measures the circulating level of TSH in the blood at one point in time. The injection stimulates the pituitary to release TSH. Twenty to thirty minutes later the second blood sample is drawn and the TSH level is again tested. The TRH test is mean to simulate actual everyday thyroid function.
