Sleep Disorder Testing (Neurology)

Body Area: Head / Neck
Body Parts: Eyes
Symptoms: Drooping Eyelid
Sleep disorder testing may be required for patients with irritability, sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, react slowly or have emotional outbursts during the day. The most common forms of sleep disorder symptoms that are signs to pursue testing are persistent insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder and narcolepsy. If a patient's physician refers him/her to a sleep center for testing, the latest technology will be used to monitor you while you sleep. A sleep specialist will observe your sleep patterns, brain waves, heart rate, and rapid eye movements using monitoring devices attached to your body. If any sleep disturbances are observed a diagnosis will be made.
