PAP (Women's Health)

Body Area: Female Specific
Body Parts: Genitals
Symptoms: Vaginal Discharge or Odor
Description:
A PAP test or a PAP spear is the laboratory part of the exam most women should have annually. The PAP takes a sample of cells from your cervix. To obtain the sample of these cells, your physician will need to insert a device into your vagina to take the swab. This is usually painless. The lab results of the PAP will show if there is an infection, cervical cancer cells, or anything else abnormal. Your doctor's office will either call you with your results or send you something in the mail after the lab results come back.
