Joint Replacement - Hip (Orthopedic)

Body Area: Hips
Body Parts: Hips
Symptoms: Broken Bone
Description:
General or spinal anesthesia are the most common for hip joint replacement surgery. There are many different types of joint replacement ball and socket prosthetics available, including plastic, metal, and ceramic joints. The surgery takes a few hours in order to allow the surgeon enough time to remove all damaged bone and cartilage and insert the new joint. Bone cement is commonly used to secure the new hip joint in place, though other options are available. Minimally invasive options may be available to you as there are several in development.
