Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) (Cancer Treatment)

Body Area: Chest
Body Parts: General Chest Area
Symptoms: Lump
Description:
IMRT Intensity modulated radiation therapy is an advanced form of three dimensional radiation therapy. It aims several beams or high energy rays at the tumor from different angles, each fairly weak to avoid damaging nearby normal cells. The machine moves the patient as it delivers the radiation, to achieve maximum accuracy and kill the cancer cells as completely as possible.  It can be used to treat many different types of cancer, and is a painless procedure. Intensity-modulated radiation therapy can be customized easily by the doctor for the type of cancer and the patient’s health.
