Hemorrhoidectomy (Surgery)

Body Area: Abdomen
Body Parts: Intestines
Symptoms: Bloody Stool
Description:
A hemorrhoidectomy is surgery to remove hemorrhoids (hemroids). The hemorrhoid can be removed with a scalpel, a cautery knife, or with a laser. The vein inside the hemorrhoid will need to be tied off if not cauterized. In some cases, the hemorrhoid does not need to be removed, only stapled back to the anal canal. This surgery is usually done under general anesthesia.
