A pre-anesthesia assessment is usually performed the day of surgery, but can be scheduled earlier. The anesthetist will ask you questions about your medical history, go over your medical records, give a physical examination, and the findings of any tests done prior to surgery. This evaluation will clarify important issues and evaluate you for potential risks during surgery.
