A cataract is a cloudiness across the lens of one's eyes. As cataracts develop, it becomes increasingly difficult to see as the cataract blocks light. If cataracts make it too difficult for you to see, you can have the lens of your eye surgically removed and replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL).
