Body Area: Abdomen
Body Parts: Intestines
Symptoms: Bloody Stool
Description:
Anal Dysplasia treatments vary based on the severity of the case and can be difficult to diagnose because symptoms such as itching or bleeding can relate to multiple conditions. An examination will likely include a physical exam of the perianal and anal region along with a digital anorectal examination to check for masses, lesions or other abnormalities, and sometimes an anal Pap (Papanicolaou) will be needed. Dysplastic tissue tends to be flat, requiring more than an anoscopic exam alone in most cases. Liquid Nitrogen , trichloroacetic acid, infrared coagulation, topical application of podophyllotoxin, or imiquimod may be used in the treatment of Anal Dysplasia.
