One in three Americans have delayed medical treatment for themselves or a family member because of cost. Many patients, 25% of the non-elderly, don’t have enough cash to cover a mid-range deductible of $1,200-$2,400. These patients need to shop around looking for cost savings, negotiate for non-emergency procedures, and check over medical bills for possible errors. A health savings account is a smart idea to pair with a high-deductible plan. People need to learn how to save more money for these predicted costs.
