Hopeful New Cancer Treatment System

immunotherapyTumor-combatting drugs could allow melanoma patients to live much longer. Immunotherapy could revolutionize cancer treatment. New drugs can work in different types of cancer and last years. The two-year survival rate for advanced melanoma has improved from 10 to 25% in the past few years. Some experimental drugs offer up to a 40% survival rate. Side effects include colitis, as well as liver, thyroid, and pituitary gland problems. Besides melanoma, these drugs also work on liver, kidney, and bladder cancer.
