SCOTUS states Obamacare is not about healthcare, it’s about taxes – Part One
by Ralph Weber
On Thursday, June 28, 2012, the Supreme Court ruled on the PPACA (Obamacare). Many Americans have expressed anger and disappointment, and there are conflicting theories about why Justice Roberts ruled as he did. Some feel it was the threats from Obama, while others feel it was payback because of the threats. While disappointment that the law was not overturned is valid and legitimate, we have reached a Columbus moment:
THE WORLD IS NOT FLAT!
The Reid-Pelosi-Obama team kept telling us this was about healthcare and was not a tax. Two and a half years later, SCOTUS rules that the federal government cannot use the Commerce Clause to force people to buy a private product, they cannot force the states to expand Medicaid, and the Obamacare mandate is simply a giant tax increase. Can the government tax us when they want to change our behavior? Although they have been imposing “sin taxes” like tobacco taxes and alcohol taxes, this is the first tax imposed for doing nothing! Can they tax us for not buying a car made by the Government Motor Company?
We were lied to by people who simply wanted to increase taxes, and they have drawn a very clear line in the sand. They have made a clear division between the ruling class and the serfs. The ruling class has been exempted from Obamacare and we are still paying the ruling class’s salaries, thus, we become serfs. Our nation’s founding principles have come to an end, and we now have the very style of ruling aristocracy that we set out to escape in 1607.
So, the question now is… what do we do? The answer is simple, and very, very clear. We cannot hold our breath and hope that November changes anything. We must ignore the government and move on with our lives.
They did not pass healthcare reform, they passed a tax increase.
In fact, the government has just passed the largest tax increase in US history during a very deep recession! Government is the source of all problems, not solutions. It is American ingenuity and entrepreneurship that will solve this, NOT the government.
The healthcare system was broken before the Obama administration, and they have made the problem even worse. It will be better to pay the tax/penalty and have a non-compliant plan, than to have a compliant plan that is cost prohibitive. We cannot escape paying the new taxes, but we can escape the government-sanctioned healthcare plans, which will bring colossal increases in costs as the government attempts to shift our money to the companies they have chosen to receive these monies.
MediBid was established in 2009 as a free market alternative to the third party payer model. MediBid allows patients to shop across state lines for medical care, as well as across international borders. As rationing increases, MediBid will allow Americans to leave the country for medical care. Last year MediBid saved consumers over $1 million in medical costs.
