The Most Expensive Rule in EPA History

On June 20th, 2012, the US Senate had the power to stop one of the most expensive regulations in US history from hitting the books. The Utility MACT rule threatens power to over 20 million homes as it forces power plants and utility companies to meet impossible standards, costing the US economy potentially trillions of dollars over the next ten years. For these reasons, Senator Inhofe (R-OK) introduced Senate Joint Resolution of Disapproval 37 under the Congressional Review Act to stop the Environmental Protection Agency from implementing this rule. The resolution received bi-partisan support. However it ultimately failed by 5 votes… 5 Republican votes. When your electricity prices skyrocket in the coming months, you’ll know who to blame.
