Medical Travel (Medical Tourism)

Medical Travel, also known as Medical Tourism refers to patients traveling (usually overseas) for medical treatment. Deloitte recently released a report which says that 1.6 million Americans per year will travel overseas for care. The report goes on to say that between $228 billion and $599.5 billion per year will be removed from the American medical economy by the year 2017.

We have seen the outsourcing of many industries in the last 30 years including manufacturing, computer programming, call centers, and now our own medical care.
